Yummy Breakfast

Breakfast is the most important meal of the day. How many times have we all heard that? Too many. So, WHY? WHY is breakfast so important? Well, there are a few reasons.

When we sleep, our bodies slow down. Our breathing is slowed, our muscles relax, and our metabolism moves at a snail's pace. In order to burn fat and calories, we need to wake our bodies up! Metabolism is what helps us digest our food. Have you ever seen a really skinny person that eats more than a teenage guy? I have! I also wonder how they maintain that slim shape! One answer is their metabolism. The faster it is, the more food they burn and at a quicker pace. The pace at which our metabolism runs is somewhat based on genetics. Some people are just born that way. But for the rest of us, how do we raise ours? Well, food of course :)

When we eat breakfast, we are, in a way, starting a car. Our breakfast starts our engines and gets our metabolisms goin'. When we skip this important meal, we deny our bodies the jump-start it needs. Our bodies then cannot process food as well when we give it some later. Also, as a result of withholding food, our bodies go into survival mode. God created us to eat when we are hungry. When we do not eat, our body thinks that there is not enough food around and does not know when it will receive food next. It begins to store food instead of burn it. So, you might think that just skipping this meal saves you some calories, but it is actually doing just the opposite! Even eating a small breakfast will start your body's functioning, and help you to keep it going all day long. In the end, you will have burned more calories than if you had bypassed your morning meal.
